Based on Kelsey’s answer last week on how to weed out or weed in who is a good fit or not-so-good fit before starting the whole program, she had a questionnaire on how to do that. Would she be comfortable posting that for us in the Facebook group?

Kelsey Marksteiner:  I don’t think I want to post it in the Facebook group, but let me see if I...

Do you use an informed consent form? Does Chris?

Kelsey Marksteiner:  I don’t, because as a dietitian, we can’t “treat” anything. There would be nothing to inform them of....

I’m going to ask what dietary analysis software do you recommend or use?

Laura Schoenfeld: I typically use MyFitnessPal with my clients. The reason for that is because it’s very easy as far...

How do you approach someone who really wants your help—in this case, a young woman with Graves’ disease—but is very resistant to eating a Paleo-type diet? She’s also a vegetarian. How do you approach vegetarians?

Kelsey Marksteiner:  And actually a follow-up is, “I’m also curious at what point you feel a patient is not a...

I know that you attract people with disordered eating to your practice, and I think you do that intentionally. Can you address how to get more training for this population? Any good resources? I think we will all encounter this population. I know I do quite a bit. Educated women who are on the quick road to diabetes and know what to do but won’t do it because of addiction habits and so forth.

Laura Schoenfeld:  As far as the type of clients that I typically attract, the ones that have disordered eating, for...

Are you interested in taking clients that don’t know anything about transitioning to Paleo and really need help getting there?

Laura Schoenfeld:   I don’t really do meal planning as a service at this point, and I know Kelsey doesn’t either....

You had answered this question last time about getting in touch with a Paleo RD to help with consultations, but I couldn’t find it on the Facebook page. Is there a way we can contact you via email for something like that? Thanks for answering this question last week about collaborating, but I missed how much you usually charge for your initial consult. How long do you spend with a client, and how often do you typically check in with a patient? Also, are you tied into the MD HQ at CCFM so you can upload the note into the patient chart, or do you send reports to them?

Kelsey Marksteiner:  This may have been Laura who answered this question because I don’t remember answering this, but I’m happy...

What kind of writeup, if any, do you give patients after the case review? Do they rely on taking their own notes, or do you give them a written plan? Also, are you satisfied with the metabolic profile assessment? I feel like this could be categorized more in alignment with our curriculum but wondered your opinion.

Chris Kresser: Yeah, we provide them with a report of findings. I think I’ve shared that document, but if I...

Practice management question: I’m wondering your take on having the patient pay for the lab tests ahead of time. I know you do that at your clinic, but I’ve been having them pay the lab directly and having them bill insurance if it applies to them. There’s been discussion on the Facebook group that having the patient pay for the labs ahead of time helps with getting them done. I’m not going to be able to get on MD HQ, so thoughts on what you did prior to MD HQ in regards to this?

Chris Kresser: We’ve always had patient pay for labs up front, and it’s not something that requires MD HQ to...

What dentists do you refer to in the Bay Area?

Chris Kresser: We can provide a list of holistic and functional dentists that we refer to all around the Bay...
