What dentists do you refer to in the Bay Area?

Chris Kresser: We can provide a list of holistic and functional dentists that we refer to all around the Bay Area maybe in the Facebook group or something. I will send this to Jill, and she or Aidan can post it in the group. Some of these dentists I have more experience with than others. Some of them, Dr. Schweig has experience with. Some are general dentists. Some are oral surgeons that test for cavitations and treat with ozone. It’s a good list and will get you started, for sure.

Dr. Danenberg—who is a dentist in ADAPT, by the way—wrote in to mention that there are other dentists … there’s Dr. Danenberg, and there are some other dentists that are in the program that could answer any dental questions. I think it’s fantastic that there are some dentists in the program, and I talked to some really interesting people at Paleo f(x) that were in the dental profession. One is a dentist who wants to train other dentists in a kind of functional dentistry approach and was talking about how the connection between oral microflora and the bowel microflora is something that’s not given enough attention. In other words, if the microbiota in the mouth is screwed up and you’re swallowing that saliva, it’s going to affect the flora in the gut, especially if stomach acid is low. That’s an interesting idea, and I think we’re coming to a more holistic view of the microbiome, not just only thinking about the microbiome in the gut, but thinking about it in other locations.
