My question is related to the antimicrobial protocol. I’m halfway through the month and ran into an issue related to lunch. I have a cup of coffee with cream before leaving home around 8:20 or 8:30, eat breakfast around 10:15 by my office. Since I treat from 11 a.m. to 6 to 7 p.m. and I have a two-hour commute, I like to eat right before starting work. Around 3 to 4, I’ll usually have a sweet potato, but sometimes I don’t eat. Protocol advises taking Lauricidin and MegaSporeBiotic with food. I assume it’s fine to take without to avoid skipping a dose.

Chris Kresser:  Yes, it is fine. The main reason for taking it with food, in the case of Lauricidin, is...

Can you supplement with betaine before a SIBO breath test?

Dr. Amy Nett:  I wouldn’t do it the morning of, but patients are not going to be eating the morning...

As I understand it, MK-7 and MK-4 have very different strengths. Dr. Kate Rheaume-Bleue says for every 1,000 IU of vitamin D you should have either 100 to 400 micrograms of MK-7 or 1,000 to 5,000 micrograms of MK-4. When you recommend people K2 supplementation, do you point out this difference?

Dr. Amy Nett:  This is a great question, I think, because there’s still so much research around vitamin K2. We...

Someone on their podcast who said it was pretty much impossible to get all the K2 you need from food and that most, especially kids, should supplement. What are your thoughts on that?

Dr. Amy Nett:  I would say probably unless you’re eating natto, which is the fermented soy, there are probably some...

What supplements do you suggest for someone who had their gallbladder removed?

Dr. Amy Nett:  I think we talked about that one, actually, on the first or second Q&A session we did....

Do you advise parents to routinely supplement toddlers with vitamin D and vitamin A if they’re not consuming organ meats or cod liver oil?

Dr. Amy Nett: Well, no, but I don’t have a large pediatric practice, so I can’t say that I routinely...

Are there any websites you can recommend that rate supplements based on purity, efficacy, and quality?

Dr. Amy Nett: Efficacy is an interesting one. That would be great, but I think, unfortunately, symptoms and treatments are...

How do you feel about PureGenomics from Pure Encapsulations as a multivitamin? As I understand it, Pure Encapsulations is marketing it as a multi that can be good for pretty much anyone, regardless of their methylation status.

Dr. Amy Nett: OK, so this is another multivitamin question, and again, I don’t really use multivitamins. There are only...

When I had H. pylori, I took DGL, Urban Moonshine bitters, and matula tea, as well as Prescript-Assist. Do you know anything about matula tea? It would be great to know what the ingredients are. Do you, or have you any opinions on it?

Dr. Amy Nett:  Essential ingredients in the matula herbal formulas are wild olive, wormwood, aloe, thorn tree, … I don’t...

Do you have any experience using serum-derived bovine immunoglobulin or protein isolate, SBI, products like the product EnteraGam for IBD patients? What are your thoughts on its use in IBD patients?

Dr. Amy Nett:  I’ve seen some research on SBI for IBS-D, but I haven’t seen it for IBD. I haven’t...
