Practice Management
Will the new supplement distribution portal be available to overseas practitioners, specifically in the UK? If so, do you anticipate the shipping charges being low enough to make this an economical option?
Chris Kresser: I would love to just say yes. The reality is I’m not sure yet. We’re still choosing a...
When your patients do the 30-day reset, do you automatically refer them to your dietitians for guidance in regards to guiding them through it—specific macronutrient ratios, meal planning, etc.—or do you just refer them to 14Four? I have a registered holistic nutritionist that’s coming on board, and we’re really excited to have her, but I’m trying to figure out how to work her into the practice.
Chris Kresser: Yeah, there are a couple of different ways you could do it. I kind of evaluate it on...
I think one of the reasons I’ve struggled with really engaging with evergreen is that I’m not sure what my niche should look like. I know you can’t answer this personally for me since you don’t know my background, but as a nurse practitioner coming from conventional medicine, I think I’m struggling with this even more because the fact that I’m trying to transition over into functional medicine seems like a sort of niche in it’s own right. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this because it seems like you opened your practice up to anyone familiar with your blog and wanting to work with you, which ultimately has grown into you taking some of the most difficult cases. Do you feel like you ever regret not niching more? Conversely, do you feel that for those of us transitioning from conventional medicine to functional medicine that creating a niche is really crucial?
Chris Kresser: That’s a really great question, and there is a lot that I could say about this. From one...
In one of the earlier practice management modules, you mentioned the idea of not taking more than six to eight new patients per week. Was this your maximum? How many days per week were you seeing patients at that point? How many new patients per week did Amy start out with when she started working for you? It’s hard for me to wrap my head around productivity goals when it’s such a different model from conventional medicine, where I’m seeing patients every 15 to 30 minutes. Any thoughts about setting up realistic patient number goals when first starting out?
Chris Kresser: I’ve never seen patients more than three days a week, if I recall. I’m trying to remember back...
How much access do you and the docs allow, via email, questions from patients? I have some who are every now and then and some who seem to send one every few days. Is there ever a charge if they get too often? I know some docs do charge for emails if it passes a certain amount. What are your thoughts?
Chris Kresser: We’re going to be sharing our complete communication policy later in the course, and that details exactly what...
For those of us who have not done podcasts or videos, are you going to cover the nuts and bolts about how to do that from a tech angle? I don’t see it on the syllabus, and it’s a pretty important piece to a good site. Or would this be included in future evergreen, or is evergreen done?
Chris Kresser: It’s not really strictly part of practice management. This ADAPT course covers functional medicine, nutrition, and practice management....
There are a couple of questions about what happens after ADAPT, and if protocols change and evolve as they often do, will there be a way that graduates can be kept in the loop in terms of changes of teaching, curriculum content, etc.
Chris Kresser: Great question. The answer is almost certainly, but I don’t know what that way will be yet. The...
How do you keep your passwords safe for such a big team and the public?
Chris Kresser: I’m not totally sure what passwords you’re referring to, but if it’s for our WordPress blog and all...
What resources do you point patients to that ask about vaccines?
Dr. Amy Nett: This is a great question. Chris and I have talked about this. I don’t know. I don’t...
When you do new patient onboarding do you do the 24- to 48-hour call after the initial interview until after they have approved the invoice?
Chris Kresser: Actually I’m not totally sure about that because I’m not doing those calls myself. I don’t think that...
