There’s a question about Iberogast, which does contain some licorice root. And the amount is not specified as it’s a proprietary blend. I think it’s very likely to be a small amount because of the number of botanicals that are in Iberogast. But the question is, do we consider it similar to licorice root, and is it contraindicated with some diabetes meds, insulin, oral contraceptives, digoxin, etc.
Chris Kresser: It’s almost impossible to answer that question because we don’t know exactly what amount of licorice root is...
Along those lines, would Iberogast be safe for people taking the medications listed as contraindications in the Week 28 material, including diabetic medications, insulin, laxatives, oral contraceptives, and digoxin?
Dr. Amy Nett: Yeah, as far as I know, it would be. Again, I think it’s a pretty low dose...
A question about Cyrex food intolerance arrays. When do you consider reintroducing foods, and do you often retest Array 3 and Array 4? If and when do you retest?
Dr. Amy Nett: Sometimes we will reintroduce without testing. If a patient gets to a point where he has what...
How would you go about raising these levels if all other markers and symptoms are in good shape?
Dr. Amy Nett: So, again, my question is kind of what are you treating? Again, this is I don’t know...
Getting a little confused about cortisol, cortisone and all of the interrelations. Is there a chart or a book or an article that has these all on one page?
Dr. Amy Nett: Yeah, there is. So a couple places—one, Precision Analytical has this amazing chart which I think we’ve...
I’d like to recommend carbonase for a 12-year-old boy who weighs 100 pounds, assuming you know of no reason not to do that.
Dr. Amy Nett: I haven’t used carbonase in pediatrics and I don’t know if you’re doing this for a sleep...
Do I have any good explanation for a patient having a rough time with Herxheimer reactions? Any research on it, suggestions on helping her through it?
Dr. Amy Nett: Well, with patients having a hard time with, I’m just going to call it die-off or Herx...
When we refer to a circadian rhythm disturbance on the graph, are we saying that any values that fall out of range qualify as rhythm disturbance? Meaning if the values don’t fall between the high and low values that means the circadian rhythm is disrupted?
Dr. Amy Nett: Yeah, that’s generally what I would consider circadian rhythm disruption. I like to put it together a...
I just read Peter Levine’s books and I’m wondering how you apply his work clinically in terms of somatic therapy, or if you refer them out for the actual trauma therapy. What applications are relevant to you from his work?
Chris Kresser: So Peter Levine does a work. He’s developed a body of work called somatic experiencing, or SE, for...
