Katie Melville earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University, where she studied the mechanisms of bone formation and resorption. In particular, she elucidated the effects of sex hormones and their receptors on bone mass and architecture. She also researched estrogen’s role in the bone’s response to mechanical loading.
