With these results, on a Doctor’s Data Stool Test, would this be considered actual dysbiosis, as the commensals are a bit out of control?Would you put someone with these results on the core protocol for one month or two?

Dr. Amy Nett: So again, I would call this insufficiency dysbiosis because there’s low levels of beneficial bacteria. The commensals...

So the next part of this question says on Doctor’s Data, if, in the yeast section, it’s indicated few yeast in several places, would that mean it would be advisable to add the additional supplements for yeast too?

Dr. Amy Nett: Okay. So if it’s just insufficiency dysbiosis, as I mentioned, where you have no growth, and 1+...

Do you have any suggestions on how to specifically increase the population of beneficial bacteria that are tested for on Doctor’s Data other than Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria?

Chris Kresser: There are some studies that talk about which prebiotics feed which types of bacteria. I don’t feel like...

Is the pediatric dysbiosis protocol the same as the pediatric SIBO protocol?

Chris Kresser: Yeah, you can use some of the same probiotics and antimicrobials there. If it’s insufficiency dysbiosis, I would...

For patients who are candidates for colonoscopy, do you have a decent alternative to the standard prep solution?

Chris Kresser: I looked into this a while back. I’m not, off the top of my head, remembering what my...

A follow-up for a 55-year-old female with type 2 gastroparesis, entire colon removed seven years ago. In April, she had many polyps removed from her small intestine, very rare surgery performed at Duke. She has extreme fat malabsorption, six bowel movements a day, but is thankfully down from 10, so making headway. GI doc requested I develop a botanical protocol for her to prevent future polyps from forming. She’s currently three weeks into care and on GAPS Level 3, Prescript-Assist, phosphatidylcholine, ox bile with enzymes, and supplements for polyp prevention and HPA axis, namely curcumin, essential oils, and aromatic medicine. Doctor’s Data results just came in. I would love your feedback. 4+ for B. fragilis, 1+ Bifido, 1+ E. coli, 1+ Lactobacillus, no growth Enterococcus, 3+ alpha- and gamma-hemolytic strep, 4+ Klebsiella, no yeast, high sIgA, SCFA production nonexistent with only propionate within range and on the lower end, fecal pH low.

Chris Kresser: This is where we just don’t know. What is this test supposed to look like in someone that...

If H. pylori and SIBO have been ruled out, but there’s still acid reflux worsened by carbs, but not protein, would you still recommend trying the betaine HCl-and-pepsin combo?

Chris Kresser:  Yes. Low stomach acid is still possible even without those two conditions.   “Could a hiatal hernia be...

If a patient does have to take the CDD recommendations for Blasto, which have changed over time, up until May of last year or maybe a little later last year, I believe it was iodoquinol, which is Yodoxin; nitazoxanide, which is Alinia; and paromomycin. And then they changed it or maybe changed it back to secnidazole, diloxanide furoate, and Septrin, which is Bactrim here. Do you still support the flora during this time with Saccharomyces boulardii, Prescript-Assist, and MegaSporeBiotic?

Chris Kresser:  Absolutely, as much as possible during that treatment because it’s a carpet … I mean, it’s not really...

Do you know anything about Entamoeba hartmanni? Googling it she understands that it’s not pathogenic. No treatments required. I did a stool test a couple years ago and it didn’t register but did come up on the most recent test so it’s a new addition. I might have gotten it on a recent trip to Nepal. Sounds great, or from sleeping overnight with my sister’s dog for the last month. It came up as Entamoeba hartmanni cysts and Entamoeba hartmanni trophs in all three Doctor’s Data stool samples, mostly as “many” on all three of the BioHealth #401 as well. Plus it said on the BioHealth Trichrome stain rare trophocyte forms of Entamoeba hartmanni detected. So my question is treat or not treat?

Dr. Amy Nett: I would say one other thing I would think about Justine is that it’s possible that you...

I had a feeling I had a parasite. I felt it on a subtle energetic level, not really symptomatic. The only real physical thing is stool consistency not as good as usual. If helping to modulate immune system, then I don’t want to interfere with that, but I get the sense it’s kind of invading. Is there a good medication to blast it out with? Which one? How long or do you just go with a parasite protocol?

Dr. Amy Nett: So yeah, all great questions. So Entamoeba hartmanni as you found on Google, it is non-pathogenic. But...
