ADAPT Student Spotlight #3
Are you a practitioner trying to transition to Functional Medicine? In my ADAPT Practitioner Training Program, students have a wide variety of backgrounds. Take a look at what these students had to say about their experience adding ADAPT training to their practice in these interviews.
A strong foundation in Functional Medicine—combined with an ancestral perspective—will dramatically improve your results with patients, open many doors for practice growth, and help you feel more engaged and satisfied with your work.
I asked some current students in ADAPT to share how the training is helping them to accomplish their specific goals. Here are some of the responses (be sure to check out part 1 and part 2 of this series).

What was your experience with Functional Medicine before you enrolled in the ADAPT Practitioner Training Program (PTP)?
I owned a Functional Medicine practice and had done most of my training through FMU and Apex Energetics seminars. I was using 90 percent Apex products and felt like I learned nothing through FMU.
What has your experience of ADAPT PTP been like so far in terms of the learning experience (delivery, pacing, difficulty, etc.)?
It has truly been amazing. The format is really perfect for someone who is very busy, and it helps you to really learn the material. It has been very thorough and informative and taught me to look at some things in a different way. The pace is perfect, and although it is not difficult, it is challenging in a good way.
What has your experience of ADAPT PTP been like so far in terms of the quality of the material?
Very thorough. I thought I knew a lot about Functional Medicine before I took this course and have realized that what I knew was only the tip of the iceberg. I really trust Chris because he does a lot of research before he uses a test or supplement. That makes me very comfortable following his protocols. My patients have really responded well to these protocols as well.
What has your experience of ADAPT PTP been like so far in terms of the interaction with other students?
I have not been very active on the Facebook page talking with other students. However, I have been very active referring my friends to take this course themselves.
Tell us a little bit about how this training is helping you with your future plans—helping you realize your vision?
I changed my entire structure of how I ran my practice. The amount of employees I had, the way I charged the patients, the protocols I used, the way I do my marketing. It has taught me so much. I am saving a lot of money on marketing now because of what I have learned.
What would you say to someone else like you—with similar training and background—who is considering enrolling in ADAPT PTP?
Sign up right now! I have told so many other docs I know that they have to do this. There is no other program like this. I cannot complain about anything in this course. It has changed so many things in a positive way for me.
Do you have anything exciting you are involved in right now that you want to tell us all about? Business expansion, website redesign, product development, rebranding, etc.?
I have moved into a completely virtual practice now and am working on passive income strategies while also writing my first book.
Do you have a niche or particular area of expertise you want to tell us about? What kind of patients are you most interested in attracting?
I have a lot of patients with Hashimoto’s. I look at this differently than their other doctors do because I look for infections, foods, etc., that can be triggering the attack on their bodies. I have learned the right way to do this from this program. I have learned how to be very thorough, and patients really appreciate that.

What was your experience with Functional Medicine before you enrolled in the ADAPT Practitioner Training Program (PTP)?
I have been in conventional healthcare for almost two decades, and when I found Functional Medicine (FM) a few years ago, it just clicked for me that this is how medicine should be practiced. Before ADAPT PTP, I had limited knowledge of FM and had never felt the desire to run my own business. But this course stirred my passion to assist my patients towards their whole health goals through the Functional Medicine framework. The practice management tools make the idea of starting my dream practice feel less daunting.
What has your experience of ADAPT PTP been like so far in terms of the learning experience (delivery, pacing, difficulty, etc.)?
I am thrilled with the ADAPT Practitioner Training Program and I have been able to stay on schedule and keep up with the pace of education. I work full time with two small kids, so I was really concerned I wouldn’t have the time to keep up.
What has your experience of ADAPT PTP been like so far in terms of the quality of the material?
I am very pleased with the quality of the program. I feel confident that Chris and his team members have done thorough research and have given us the most up-to-date information available today. When I talk to other practitioners, I feel confident in describing why I will use certain lab testing and protocols. I also highly recommend the program to people who are interested in FM but need more structure to put together individual programs for your clients.
What has your experience of ADAPT PTP been like so far in terms of the interaction with other students?
I love the community of people in the Practitioner Training Program because we are very diverse in abilities, specialties, and backgrounds. I was fortunate to meet a handful of the other students at Paleo (f)x earlier this year. We felt so connected already, though we were just meeting for the first time. The program has provided a great group on Facebook where we can teach and help each other. It has been wonderful and allowed for priceless friendships to bloom.
Tell us a little bit about how this training is helping you with your future plans—helping you realize your vision?
My FM passion has been ignited to a whole new level by this program. My current plans are to grow my practice focused on wellness and elimination of pain and inflammation within an FM framework. This ADAPT program has given me the confidence that I can launch my own FM micro-practice. The tools in practice management are extremely helpful.
What would you say to someone else like you—with similar training and background—who is considering enrolling in ADAPT?
If you are ready to shake up your practice … jump in … you will not be disappointed!
Do you have anything exciting you are involved in right now that you want to tell us all about? Business expansion, website redesign, product development, rebranding, etc.?
We just completed renaming, rebranding, and are currently creating our website, all while putting together my amazing team. It’s exciting watching a vision grow into reality!
My most powerful networking tool is hosting a Functional Forum Meetup group. It has become an amazing opportunity to collaborate with local practitioners and learn the landscape of FM within my community.
Do you have a niche or particular area of expertise you want to tell us about? What kind of patients are you most interested in attracting?
Our practice has an amazing toolbox to minimize inflammation and chronic pain. In addition to FM framework, we offer perineural injection treatments (PIT), yoga therapy, health and nutrition education, all provided by a team focusing on mind, body, heart, and spirit. My team is on a mission to really impact and change lives throughout our community.
