What blood work panels do you recommend for the initial evaluation?

Dr. Amy Nett:  So we do the comprehensive blood panel, which we’re sort of going through all of those markers in the blood chemistry section and I think you all have access to the case review blood panel that we do. So our blood panel would include again, glucose hemoglobin, A1c; we do a comprehensive metabolic panel; we do hepatic function panel; cholesterol panel; vitamin D, calcitriol, parathyroid hormone; zinc and copper serum, which we just talked about; a complete thyroid panel, and in that we do include all of the thyroid markers, including free and total thyroid hormones, TPO, and thyroglobulin antibodies. We also include in our evaluation homocysteine, CRP, complete blood count, and I think that about summarizes it. Oh B12, methylmalonic acid. So again, basically the case review blood panel, which is the markers we’re working through now. And I think that answers your question. In terms of like the other blood work, we might, it will depend on the presentation. It could be something like a heavy metals panel, but otherwise the standard comprehensive blood panel, that’s what we’re working through now in the blood chemistry section, and all of our patients get that comprehensive blood panel when we start.
