Dr. Amy Nett: Yeah, and I think this was a somewhat related question last time or the time before. At some point, somebody asked about multivitamins because I think Chris normally recommends Pure Encapsulations Nutrient 950, and I think Laura maybe was asking about how the vitamin A comes as beta-carotene and something about the K2, and I think the conclusion from that was there’s no perfect multivitamin. What I prefer, and I think for a prenatal, Chris still sticks with the Nutrient 950. What I actually like for a prenatal multivitamin is the Seeking Health Optimal Prenatal. I like that one for a couple of reasons. Half of the vitamin A does still come from beta-carotene, and the vitamin K, I believe, is MK-7. I like the Seeking Health one for a couple of reasons. One, I just think it has a lot of good quality nutrients in it. The other reason I like it is the dose is eight capsules a day, which is a lot, especially if you’re pregnant and nauseous and can barely keep anything down, so they also have, I think, a vanilla and chocolate powder, like a prenatal powder. For some of the patients who just can’t tolerate getting that many capsules down, understandably, it’s nice to have that option as a powder. Sometimes people will alternate, so they’ll have the powder and the capsules and just sort of see what they can get down.

I would say check out the Seeking Health Optimal Prenatal. That’s my favorite prenatal right now. I’m definitely interested if other people have suggestions, but, yeah, that’s the one I’ve sort of settled on for now and am pretty happy with.
