Amy Nett: Carl says, “[Is the] best way to determine genetic predisposition [a] 23andMe type [of] test?”
Actually, I order through LabCorp. They have, I think it’s a celiac panel. I don’t remember exactly what it’s called, but I think you can order the HLA-DQ2 and DQ8, and it might have a name like celiac panel or something like that, but LabCorp does have a celiac panel for the antibodies, certainly. I don’t know that you can kind of hack out the DQ2 and DQ8 specifically from 23andMe I don’t remember. I think they might say whether or not you have a predisposition toward celiac, but I don’t know if they give you the specifics of your DQ2 and DQ8. You know, 23andMe, I think it’s a good option to have. I don’t know [if] their methodology, reliability, or accuracy in terms of all the SNPs [single-nucleotide polymorphisms] is quite as good. I think for this one, it’s probably worth going through LabCorp or Quest for that.
