Chris Kresser: Some people with celiac report that they do respond to gluten in skin care products. There is not a lot of research that I’m aware of on this. If anyone else has seen papers on this definitely, and you’re on the call, let me know. But I anecdotally have heard from patients who seem to react to gluten in skin care products, whether that’s a SIBO reaction, which is real and potent, or whether it’s a reaction that’s caused by the gluten itself. It’s hard to say. I doubt it, I don’t think it has the same effects as ingested gluten. It’s hard to imagine how it would. But some people do seem to react.
