Chris Kresser: Okay. Next question also from Amber, “In your newest podcast with Mark Pimentel, you stated that based on the reimagined study, proton-pump inhibitors don’t change the microbiome. They don’t really cause SIBO or change in diversity. Can we hear your thoughts on this?”

Yes, skepticism, as you can imagine. I’ve written extensively on the risks of PPIs. If you just search for “Chris Kresser PPIs,” you’ll see lots and lots of articles and information. One study is interesting but doesn’t convince me that these drugs are harmless. Even if they don’t have a significant impact on the microbiome, which I’m definitely not sold on, they have many other harmful effects that I’ve detailed in these articles. Take a look at that and I’ll keep following the research here as always, but I’m still very very reluctant when it comes to these.
