How would I decide between A-FNG versus Yeastonil?

Dr. Amy Nett: I don’t know that there is any great guideline for that. I think A-FNG might be a little bit more potent. It’s also an herbal tincture that I haven’t—I haven’t tried that one myself, but patients have told me they are not particularly fond of the taste. Yeastonil is going to be capsules. Patients are probably going to be a little bit more compliant, so that would probably be my first go-to. A-FNG, though, a little bit more potent, so what I might do is, let’s say, I do someone on 30 days or 60 days of Yeastonil because we’re doing specifically trying to deal with a yeast overgrowth. If I don’t see any improvements that I want, I might then either rotate in A-FNG, or if it was a more severe yeast overgrowth, I might even use both Yeastonil and A-FNG. Again, not really clear guidelines. I think this one is also more art than medicine in terms of trying to decide which one to use. A-FNG is a little bit more potent, but you have to know your patient well enough to know if she is going to be compliant with this herbal tincture that doesn’t taste so good. Yeastonil is a capsule. Patients are probably going to be more compliant with that, so I would make it a first-line option.
