Have you found that successful restoration of damaged microvilli is common?

Chris Kresser: Ariel, “Have you found that successful restoration of damaged microvilli is common?”

If you mean damaged like in the case of celiac disease, it is possible with someone who has celiac and they’re diagnosed, and then you discover it and they cut out gluten. Sometimes, they have to cut out dairy and other antigenic foods, as well, [and] then on subsequent endoscopy, you can sometimes see regrowth and restoration of the villi. That’s, in part, because the intestinal cells can be regenerated. It may not be a complete restoration, but we’ve definitely seen significant improvement.
