Do you have any suggestions on resources, books, therapies, where to start, etc., for people who are emotional eaters?

Laura Schoenfeld:   So I don’t necessarily have specific resources for that type of topic. The one resource that I am familiar with as far as training is concerned, like, if you’re looking to become trained in how to deal with emotional eating, the Institute for the Psychology of Eating is pretty good and I’ve heard good things about it from people who have gone through their training. So they have a training program for coaches and practitioners that want to work with people that have emotional eating. They also have some free resources, videos, that kind of stuff, and free updates that they provide. They have a book called The Slow Down Diet. So basically teaching people how to eat for pleasure and energy and that kind of stuff. So they do a lot of work with emotional eating, and that’s the one resource that I’m more familiar with as far as being an option for either getting trained yourself in how to deal with it, or having some resources that can help a client.

So they have a podcast as well. I haven’t listened to it, but that might be a good thing to check out if you want some more information or if you want to send clients there. They have a list of the 50 best emotional eating websites. So there’s a lot of really good resources listed there. I can post that link in the Facebook group if people want to check that out. But otherwise that’s the main website that I would recommend to start with and there may be some extra resources in there that would be helpful for you. So like I said, I’ll post that in the Kresser Institute Facebook page and if you guys want to see the emotional eating website recommendations, that’ll be there.
