Dr. Amy Nett: Well, remember that the waking cortisol is a good representation of what overnight cortisol is. So if you see low-normal waking cortisol, I generally think that’s good because that’s telling us that the overnight cortisol when patients should be sleeping is normal, So, I normally see high waking cortisol in my patients who are waking up in the middle of the night, they’re not able to go back to sleep, oh, sorry. You’re saying the morning sample. Okay.

So, low-normal morning cortisol/cortisone, yeah, so there could some adrenal issues there. I would ask her about, is she doing caffeine? Does she put in some adrenal stress in the morning, I don’t know, that would cause higher actually. I would ask her, though, what’s the fatigue, is the fatigue worse in the morning? Because then you could do something like Vital Adapt or some adrenal glandulars.

I do think that’s probably where I would start. Of course, if you find something with the gut comes up on those tests, then you can back. But based on the information you have there, yes, I would address methylation, which will help with detox. You can add something like the Liver Nutrients from Seeking Health or Detox Formula from Vital Nutrients, something like that. But it sounds like that she’s also a bit overweight and then losing the weight, it might be helpful to do some gentle detox support, sort of nonspecific detox support.
