Chris Kresser: Yeah, that’s interesting. It seems like there was some reaction to both of the soil-based and transient commensals, but it also seems like there was an improvement with the protocol overall. I would probably switch over to the rebuilding-a-healthy-gut protocol, and because there’s no growth of bifido, I would focus on some prebiotics to get that back up into the normal range. You might try Saccharomyces boulardii because there’s still maybe a little bit of yeast overgrowth, or something like A-FNG from Byron White, which we talked about, to deal with the yeast overgrowth. A rash can often be a symptom of yeast overgrowth, so give that a try. See if that’s helpful.

- SIBO patient took Prescript-Assist prior to starting herbal antimicrobial protocol and developed a serious rash. Stopped Prescript-Assist, and a few weeks later started two-month SIBO protocol with MegaSporeBiotic, starting very slowly with it. Rash was still pretty bad weeks into treatment. Stopped MegaSporeBiotic, and weeks later rash persists, actually worse. Patient feels great otherwise. GI symptoms have significantly improved, and patient has no other adverse reactions. Suggestions? Stay the course for one more month? Doctor’s Data showed no growth bifido and few yeast.
