When you say low-carb, do you mean ketogenic or not quite?

Kelsey Marksteiner:  I personally would not use a ketogenic diet for an athlete necessarily unless I had a patient that came to me, an athlete, and already on a ketogenic diet and said that it worked wonderfully for them. It’s definitely not the first place I would start unless they had some other condition that I thought being on a ketogenic diet would be useful for. So yeah when I say low-carb, I’m not referring to a ketogenic diet. I’m referring to either a moderately low-carb or a low-carb diet. So that’s going to vary depending on how many calories a person is eating. But you know, generally lower than about 20 percent of calories as carbohydrates.

So, okay. I’m trying to think if there’s anything else I would add about that. I don’t think so. I hope that answers your question. Yeah, it definitely can be used effectively. I would just say that also don’t be afraid of using a high-carbohydrate diet for folks who do well with it.
