Is there a specific glycine supplement that you recommend, other than Great Lakes or Vital Proteins?

Chris Kresser:  No, those are the two ones that I typically like. I’m not sure if you maybe don’t have access to those. There may very well be other brands, but those are the ones that I find easiest to work with.

“How much would you recommend that a patient consume per day to offset methionine intake?” Well, my basic recommendation is just to get glycine from the diet, so to eat bone broth and fattier cuts of meat—shanks and oxtail and chuck roast and all of the collagen-rich cuts. If that’s not possible or the patient just won’t do that, then, yes, supplementing with hydrolyzed collagen, I think, is easier than gelatin. The gelatin clumps when it’s mixed with cold or hot liquid. It only really mixes well with room temperature liquid, whereas the hydrolyzed collagen just mixes easier with all different temperature liquids, so I think it’s a little easier to work with. I’d recommend a couple of tablespoons, maybe, a day of that if there’s no other source of glycine in the diet.
