Chris Kresser: Yes. Anything that disrupts the gut microbiome can cause halitosis because you’re getting production of certain gases, which then can—the digestive tract is—there are sphincters all along it, but it’s an open tube. Then also, disrupted oral microbiome, which is something we haven’t talked about much in this course, I believe, is another significant cause of halitosis. Of course, the oral microbiome is connected to the gut microbiome, so if there is a disruption of the gut microbiome, that could probably cause a disruption in the oral microbiome and vice versa.
