Chris Kresser:  Well, with SIBO treatment, we include the guar gum because of the studies that I shared with you during that unit. I think the jury is still somewhat out on that, and I could see myself changing my mind later if our clinical experience warrants that, but for now, we’re including partially hydrolyzed guar gum in the antimicrobial protocols unless the patient has a really significant intolerance to it, which it sounds like your patient might. In that case, we don’t include it, and we’ll just say just eat a normal Paleo-type diet. Don’t do a super-low-FODMAP diet. If you react to some FODMAPs such as onions and garlic, then certainly you can remove those, but if there are some FODMAPs that you don’t have a really intense reaction to, then you can include those.
