A follow-up question on pediatric antimicrobial protocol versus adult protocol: What age do you switch from pediatric to adult?

Chris Kresser: Probably not until 10, 11, 12, would I start thinking about adult protocol at maybe lower doses. Pediatric protocol is beneficial for a couple of reasons. One is that it’s a lot easier to titrate the doses based on their age and weight because it’s mostly liquids. You have the little dropper bottles, and you can just go up or down by as little as one drop with each of the formulas. There’s actually no reason you couldn’t use the pediatric stuff in an adult protocol at sufficient dosages, but the things we use in adult protocol I find to be more convenient. So, yeah, somewhere around 10 to 12, I think, 13, depending on the child and their weight and what else is going on.
